Fresh from their victory away to Naomh Pรกdraig, Lifford last Tuesday our U13 LGFA team faced Gleann Fhinne at home in Pairc Naomh Ultan this evening, Monday, May 23rd. There may have been some concern over fatigue with a lot of the team playing in Clones at the half time of the Ulster Ladies Football Championship final, but that didn't prove to be the case as they put in an impressive performance to pick up another win.
Glenfin opened the scoring and led early on but that soon changed when Sarah Hegarty blasted the ball into the net, she added a point soon after. Kayla Boyle then got Naomh Ultan's second goal to really push their lead out. Glenfin however fought back and netted twice, tightening the margins and tightened them further when they pointed after. Clodagh Murray converted a free towards the half time whistle to give Naomh Ultan a one point advantage at the break. Half Time - Naomh Ultan 2-2 Gleann Fhinne 2-1
Things continued from where they left off for Naomh Ultan and Murray, she pointed moments after the restart. Sarah Hegarty added two more from play and then, getting her second goal of the evening Kayla Boyle netted to restore the good lead Naomh Ultan had in the opening half. Clodagh Murray got her third score and her second free to make it 3-6 for her team. Glenfin did respond with a score from play but Naomh Ultan continued to take their scores as the half progressed, Hegarty, Cara McCallig and Niamh Gallagher all pointed before Sorcha Boyle got Naomh Ultan's final score in the form of a goal. Glenfin did get two more points near the end however the result was in no doubt, an impressive performance by the girls to continue their good run of form. Well done to all, they can look forward to their next fixture against Red Hughs at home. It is currently scheduled for Sunday however the time is yet to be confirmed.
