Our U16 LGFA team had their second outing of 2022 last night, Thursday, May 19th. They travelled to northern Inishowen where they faced off to Urris, a rather long trip on a week day but the girls travelled over with a good side in search for their first win.

Things didn't go to plan unfortunately, as Urris raced ahead early on with four points. Perhaps it was the long journey that made it difficult to get going right from the first whistle. Cliodhna O'Shea changed that though, getting a great goal to put Naomh Ultan right back into the game. Kelly Gallagher got a point from play to level proceedings soon after.

Similar to earlier in the half Urris rallied again this time getting three points on the trot making it 0-7 to 1-1. Elisha Lowther got on the end of a good move to get Naomh Ultan's second point of the half and Urris got the last score of the opening half late on to make it a three point game at the interval.

Naomh Ultan's Kelly Gallagher got her side off to just the start they would have liked when she pointed soon after the restart, Urris responded to that with two quick scores but Gallagher matched that with two more of her own. It would have seemed that an ascent from Naomh Ultan was coming but disaster struck when over the course of the next 10 minutes Urris managed to score four goals to really put the result in no doubt.

The Naomh Ultan girls team didn't lay down and fought hard as the half went on. They were awarded for that fight when Sarah Hegarty sent in a good ball to Orlaith Gallagher who made no mistake finishing it into the Urris net. The opposition, Urris finished off a good performance by getting the final two points of this fixture, they were deserving winners in the end but credit to our girls for putting in a big effort after their mammoth journey up the road.

Full Time: Urris 4-12 Naomh Ultan 2-5

Next up for our U16 LGFA team is Gleann Fhinne, they are scheduled to play them at home this Tuesday, May 24th at 6:15pm. We'd like to wish the team and management the very best of luck in that one!
