Our Minor side travelled to Kilcar last night, Tuesday July 7th. This was their last fixture before a 3 week break from games. A few changes were made to the Naomh Ultan starting 13, a number of players coming back from injury added some experience to the team.

In the opening quarter Luke Gallagher and Chill Chartha traded scores twice, then Chill Chartha got two quick fire goals to put Naomh Ultan on the back foot. Gallagher got a score to shorten the distance between the teams making it five points between them at the first interval. Chill Chartha got the scoreboard moving again soon after the restart, Gallagher again responding to it with two points. Chill Chartha added two more but just as the half was closing out substitute Kyle McGeoghan hit the net to tighten the affair down to three points. Half Time - Chill Chartha 2-5 Naomh Ultan 1-5

Upon the restart this game soon became the Kyle McGeoghan show, getting two consecutive goals to make it a hat-trick for himself within a few minutes. Those goals flipped the game on its head, and Daragh Gallagher stepped up to put Naomh Ultan four points up not long after being three down. Chill Chartha got a score but up stepped the ever reliable Luke Gallagher, pointing and then scoring a goal to really open the gap between the two sides. This was soon matched by Chill Chartha who added 1-1 to their score sheet, but like he did three times already McGeoghan got his forth and his side's fifth in this goal fest.

Chill Chartha pushed hard to narrow the difference and did put up three points however a Jack Hegarty goal late on gave Naomh Ultan the breathing room to finish the game out as deserved winners. Very much a game of two halves, great to see Naomh Ultan getting their first win of the year. Injuries have blighted this team in their previous games, adding those who have recovered really made the difference. Hopefully now their winning form continues!

Next up for this side is Na Cealla Beaga at home on July 30th, throw in is scheduled for 7:30pm.
